Terms & Conditions

Please read these Booking Terms & Conditions carefully before making a booking with Nievs Travel.

By making a payment towards your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms and conditions.

These terms apply to bookings arranged by Nievs Travel, whether made in person, by telephone, email or through any online booking process.

1. Your Booking

When you make a booking with us, you are confirming that the information you have provided is accurate and that you understand the arrangements you are purchasing.

Before making payment, please check that:

  • All traveller names are exactly as they appear on the relevant passport or photo ID. Even a small spelling difference can cause problems with travel.

  • The dates and times of travel are correct.

  • The flights, accommodation, tours, transfers and other services booked are what you requested.

  • You understand that each component of your booking may have its own terms and conditions.

  • You have advised us of anything that may affect your travel arrangements, including special requirements, accessibility needs or relevant loyalty program details.

  • You have, or will obtain, all passports, visas, permits and other travel documents required for your journey.

The person making the booking is considered to have authority to act on behalf of everyone included in the booking. By making the booking, that person agrees to these terms and conditions on behalf of all travellers.

2. Who You Are Contracting With

Nievs Travel is a travel agency business operated by Nievaart Pty Ltd.

Unless your invoice states otherwise, your booking agreement is with the travel agency business identified on your invoice. Global Travel Network provides access to a network of travel services, suppliers and support, but is not the contracting party for your individual travel arrangements unless specifically stated.

Nievs Travel acts as a travel agent and arranges travel products and services on your behalf.

3. Prices & Price Changes

All prices quoted by Nievs Travel are subject to availability and may change until the booking has been paid for in full, unless otherwise confirmed in writing.

A price may change because of circumstances outside our control. These can include:

  • Changes in currency exchange rates

  • Airline fuel surcharges

  • Government or airport taxes

  • Supplier price increases

  • Changes to airfares

  • Other fees or charges imposed by suppliers or authorities

  •

Where possible, we will advise you of any price change before proceeding with a booking or payment.

If you require an up-to-date price, please let us know.

4. Deposits & Final Payment

Most bookings require a deposit at the time of booking. Your consultant will advise you of the amount required and the applicable payment deadlines.

Some airlines, accommodation providers, tours, cruises and other suppliers require full payment at the time of booking.

Unless your invoice states otherwise, final payment is generally required no later than six weeks before departure.

Deposits and scheduled instalment payments for group travel are generally non-refundable if you cancel or change your plans because of a change of mind, subject always to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

If payment is not received by the required deadline, your booking may be cancelled by the supplier and cancellation fees may apply.

5. Changes & Cancellations

Travel bookings often involve fees from both Nievs Travel and the individual travel supplier.

Our minimum change and cancellation fees are as follows, in addition to any fees charged by the relevant supplier:

Domestic & Trans-Tasman travel

  • Changes: $50 per passenger, per booking

  • Cancellations: $100 per passenger, per booking

  •

International travel – excluding Trans-Tasman

  • Changes: $75 per passenger, per booking

  • Cancellations: $100 per passenger, per booking

These fees are subject to your rights and remedies under the Australian Consumer Law.

Supplier fees are additional and can vary considerably depending on the product booked.

Some bookings are completely non-refundable, while others may allow changes or cancellations subject to specific conditions.

6. Supplier Cancellation & Change Conditions

Every airline, hotel, cruise line, tour operator, car rental company and other travel supplier has its own booking conditions.

Supplier cancellation fees can be significant and, in some circumstances, may be up to 100% of the booking cost, even if your travel has not yet commenced.

Supplier fees may also apply when:

  • You change your booking.

  • Tickets or travel documents need to be re-issued.

  • A booking is partially cancelled.

  • A supplier requires a new booking to be made rather than amending the original booking.

If Nievs Travel is required to pay a supplier cancellation or amendment fee because you have asked us to change or cancel your booking, that amount is payable by you, together with any applicable Nievs Travel fees or other associated costs.

If you cancel a booking before the supplier has cancelled the relevant service, this will generally be treated as a customer-requested cancellation or change of mind and the normal cancellation conditions will apply.

Where a refund is due from a supplier, Nievs Travel will generally not be able to refund you until the relevant funds have been received from that supplier. Any applicable fees or costs will be deducted before the refund is passed on to you.

7. Travel Documents

Travel documents can include airline tickets, accommodation vouchers, tour vouchers, cruise documents, rail tickets, transfer vouchers and any other documentation confirming your travel arrangements.

Travel documents may have conditions attached to them, including restrictions on changes, transfers, refunds or cancellations.

Travel documents are generally issued in the name of the traveller and cannot be transferred to another person unless the relevant supplier specifically permits this.

Names must be correct at the time of booking. An incorrect name can result in additional charges, refusal of travel or cancellation of the booking.

Please carefully check all documents we provide to you and advise us immediately if you notice an error in:

  • Names

  • Dates

  • Times

  • Destinations

  • Flights or other travel arrangements

It is your responsibility to make sure you have received and checked all required travel documents before departure.

Unless otherwise advised, travel documents are generally provided approximately two weeks before departure. This can vary depending on the type of booking and when the supplier releases the documents.

8. Passports, Visas & Entry Requirements

You are responsible for making sure that you have the correct travel documents for your journey.

Visa and entry requirements can vary depending on your nationality, the passport you travel on, the countries you are visiting or transiting through, the purpose of your trip and the length of your stay. Requirements can also change without notice.

Nievs Travel Visa Check

To help with your travel planning, we provide a Visa Check tool on the Nievs Travel website. You can enter the passport or nationality you intend to travel on and your destination to receive general guidance about the visa or entry requirements that may apply.

The Visa Check is provided as a guide only and is not a visa application service or a guarantee of entry.

You should always verify the current requirements with the relevant government, immigration authority, embassy or consulate before travelling, particularly where your circumstances are unusual or you hold more than one nationality.

Check Visa Requirements

Nievs Travel does not issue visas. Where appropriate, we can provide guidance and direct you to the relevant official government or visa application resources. If you require assistance from a specialist visa provider, we can also refer you to an appropriate service, where available.

Dual Citizenship – Important

Holding citizenship of another country can change the visa and entry requirements that apply to you.

For example, Australian-British dual citizens travelling to the United Kingdom must travel using a valid British passport or another valid passport containing a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode. They cannot obtain or use a UK ETA as an alternative. The UK Government has been enforcing this requirement since 25 February 2026.

Australian-British dual citizens should also use their Australian passport when entering and leaving Australia, as required by Australian law.

This is only one example. Other countries may have their own rules requiring dual nationals to enter or leave using a particular passport, or may apply different visa requirements depending on the traveller's nationality.

If you hold more than one passport, please advise us before booking and carry all relevant passports with you when travelling.

If you are unsure which passport you should use for a particular destination or transit point, you should check the requirements with the relevant government or embassy before travelling.

Responsibility for Travel Documents

You are responsible for ensuring that your passport, visas, electronic travel authorisations, permits and other required documents are valid and meet the requirements of every country you will visit or transit through.

Any fines, penalties, additional travel costs or other expenses resulting from you not having the required documentation will generally be your responsibility, except where the loss has been caused by our fault.

We can provide general information about passport and visa requirements relevant to your booking. Where appropriate, we may also refer you to an external visa advisory service. Additional fees may apply for services provided by an external visa provider.

Information supplied by third parties, including visa advisory services and government authorities, may change. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of information provided by an external service provider and accept no liability for losses arising from reliance on that information, except where required by law.

9. Travelling Overseas – Check Current Requirements

International travel requirements can change at any time.

Before travelling, you should check the current entry, transit and re-entry requirements for every country included in your itinerary.

We recommend checking the Australian Government's Smartraveller website for current travel advice and destination information:

www.smartraveller.gov.au

You should also check the official government or immigration website for each country you are visiting or transiting through.

10. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive travel insurance appropriate for your circumstances and the type of travel you are undertaking.

Travel insurance can provide protection against unexpected events such as:

  • Overseas medical and hospital expenses

  • Cancellation or amendment costs

  • Travel delays and disruptions

  • Lost, stolen or damaged luggage and personal belongings

  • Missed connections

  • Additional accommodation and transport expenses

  • Other unforeseen travel-related costs

The Australian Government strongly recommends travel insurance for Australians travelling overseas.

Relying on Credit Card Travel Insurance

Some credit cards include complimentary travel insurance. However, credit card travel insurance should not be assumed to provide the same level of cover as a comprehensive travel insurance policy.

Credit card insurance is subject to the particular card's eligibility requirements, activation requirements, limits, exclusions and conditions. These can vary significantly between banks and between individual cards.

The complimentary insurance provided with some Australian credit cards is also changing.

There have been significant changes across the major banks, including the removal of travel insurance from some cards, reductions in cover on others, changes to the maximum period of cover and changes to the benefits and limits available. For example, CommBank has announced changes taking effect from 29 September 2026, Westpac has changes taking effect from 1 October 2026, and ANZ has further changes scheduled from 9 December 2026 and 24 March 2027. NAB has also already made significant changes to complimentary travel insurance on some cards.

Do not rely on the travel insurance you received with a credit card for a previous trip without checking the current policy. Your cover may have changed even if you have the same credit card.

Before relying on credit card travel insurance, you should check the current policy and confirm:

  • Whether travel insurance is still included with your particular card.

  • Whether you have met the requirements to activate the cover.

  • How much of your trip must be paid for using the card.

  • Who is covered, including your travelling partner, spouse or dependants.

  • The maximum length of the trip covered.

  • The maximum amount payable for cancellation and amendment costs.

  • The level of overseas medical cover.

  • Any excess that applies.

  • Cover for pre-existing medical conditions.

  • Cover for cruises, adventure activities or other activities included in your itinerary.

  • Cover for your particular destination.

  • Any applicable age limits.

  • The exclusions and conditions that apply to your policy.

The requirements for activating complimentary credit card insurance can be particularly important. Simply holding the credit card may not be enough to activate cover.

We recommend that you obtain and read the current Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), eligibility requirements and certificate of insurance applicable to your card before relying on credit card insurance.

If your credit card provides complimentary insurance, it is your responsibility to determine whether that cover is suitable for your travel arrangements.

Our Recommendation

For most overseas holidays, particularly where you have significant prepaid arrangements, we recommend considering a separate comprehensive travel insurance policy rather than relying solely on complimentary credit card insurance.

This is particularly important for expensive holidays, cruises, multi-country itineraries, long trips, trips involving pre-existing medical conditions or travel that includes activities with specific insurance requirements.

We can provide information about travel insurance options available through Nievs Travel. You should read the relevant policy wording carefully and make sure the cover you select meets your individual needs.

Travel insurance policies have conditions, exclusions, limits and excesses. No travel insurance policy covers every possible situation.

Important

Travel insurance should be considered as soon as you make your travel arrangements, particularly because cancellation cover may be relevant from the time you purchase your trip.

Do not wait until shortly before departure to arrange insurance if you want protection for cancellation or other events that may occur before your trip begins.

11. Health & Vaccinations

You are responsible for checking any health requirements, vaccination requirements and recommended health precautions that apply to your destination.

Some countries require specific vaccination certificates for entry. Failure to provide the required documentation may result in you being refused entry.

We recommend speaking with your doctor, a travel medicine clinic or an appropriate vaccination provider before travelling.

Current Australian Government travel health information is available through:

www.smartraveller.gov.au

12. Special Requests & Requirements

Please tell us about any special requirements before your booking is confirmed.

This may include:

  • Dietary requirements

  • Seating preferences

  • Room preferences

  • Accessibility requirements

  • Wheelchair assistance

  • Medical equipment

  • Accessible accommodation

  • Mobility requirements

  • Other assistance you may require during your journey

  •

We will pass your requests to the relevant supplier and, where possible, ask the supplier to accommodate them.

Please understand that a request is not necessarily a guarantee. Final confirmation of special requests rests with the relevant travel supplier.

13. Frequent Flyer & Loyalty Programs

If you are a member of a frequent flyer or other loyalty program, please provide your membership details when making your booking so they can be added to your reservation where possible.

Each loyalty program has its own rules regarding eligibility, points and status credits.

We cannot guarantee that a supplier will award points, status credits or other loyalty benefits for a particular booking.

If you intend to use frequent flyer points for an upgrade, please tell your consultant before the booking is made. Some fares are not eligible for upgrades using points.

14. Airline & Supplier Schedule Changes

Airlines, cruise lines, rail operators and other suppliers can change schedules after a booking has been made.

We will do our best to notify you of significant schedule changes when we are advised of them.

However, you are ultimately responsible for checking your travel arrangements and making sure you arrive at the relevant airport, station, port or departure point with sufficient time to travel.

We recommend checking your flight details with the airline approximately 24 hours before departure, particularly where your itinerary includes connecting flights.

If a schedule change or delay results in you missing a connection or incurring additional costs, responsibility for those costs will depend on the circumstances and the terms imposed by the relevant supplier.

15. Our Role as Your Travel Agent

Nievs Travel acts as an agent arranging travel services on your behalf.

We can arrange products and services provided by third parties, including:

  • Airlines

  • Hotels and accommodation providers

  • Cruise lines

  • Rail operators

  • Coach operators

  • Tour companies

  • Transfer providers

  • Car rental companies

  • Wholesalers and other travel suppliers

We take reasonable care when selecting and recommending reputable suppliers. However, we do not operate or control the services provided by these third parties.

Your booking with a supplier is subject to that supplier's own terms and conditions, including conditions of carriage and limitations of liability.

The contract for the actual travel service is generally between you and the relevant supplier.

If a supplier fails to provide a service, your rights will generally be against that supplier, except where the issue has resulted from a failure or fault on our part.

16. Service Standards & Your Consumer Rights

When providing travel advice and booking services, we are required to meet the guarantees that apply to services under the Australian Consumer Law.

This includes providing our services:

  • With due care and skill;

  • So that they are reasonably fit for any purpose you have made known to us;

  • In a way that can reasonably be expected to achieve the agreed result; and

  • Within a reasonable time where no specific timeframe has been agreed.

Nothing in these terms is intended to remove, restrict or exclude any rights or remedies you have under the Australian Consumer Law where those rights cannot legally be excluded.

17. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Nievs Travel is not responsible for loss, damage, injury, delay, additional expense or inconvenience caused by the acts, omissions or failure of third-party travel suppliers where those suppliers are outside our reasonable control.

This may include circumstances involving:

  • Airlines

  • Hotels

  • Cruise lines

  • Tour operators

  • Rail operators

  • Transport providers

  • Government authorities

  • Industrial action

  • Weather or natural events

  • Changes to travel schedules

  • Other events beyond our reasonable control

We are also not responsible for events that could not reasonably have been prevented through reasonable care and diligence.

Where international conventions or other laws limit the liability of a travel provider, those limitations may apply to your booking. Examples include international conventions relating to air, sea and rail travel.

Where our liability cannot legally be excluded but may legally be limited, our liability will be limited to the remedies required under applicable law.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

18. Privacy & Personal Information

We take the privacy of your personal information seriously.

Personal information provided to Nievs Travel will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By providing your personal information to us, you consent to its collection, use and disclosure where reasonably required to arrange and manage your travel booking and provide related services.

This may include sharing information with:

  • Airlines

  • Accommodation providers

  • Cruise lines

  • Tour operators

  • Rail and transport providers

  • Wholesalers

  • Visa or travel documentation providers

  • Insurance providers

  • Other suppliers involved in your itinerary

  • Service providers who assist us with administrative or technical services

Because you may be travelling overseas, some of these organisations may be located outside Australia and your personal information may therefore be transferred overseas.

Different countries have different privacy laws and standards. Where your information is provided to an overseas travel supplier so that your booking can be fulfilled, that supplier will generally handle your information according to the laws and privacy requirements applicable in that country.

19. Taxes & Government Charges

Some taxes and charges are subject to change after a booking has been made.

For example, airline taxes are generally confirmed when an airline ticket is issued.

Depending on your destination and booking, additional local charges may also apply, including airport, city, tourist, accommodation or resort taxes.

Where we are advised of applicable charges, we will provide this information to you. However, charges imposed directly by a local authority or supplier may be payable separately at the destination.

20. Money Paid for Travel Arrangements

Money paid towards your travel arrangements is used to secure and pay for the services you have requested from travel suppliers.

Where applicable, payments may be passed to or held for the relevant travel supplier in accordance with the arrangements under which your booking has been made.

Unless specifically required by law, money paid towards travel arrangements should not be regarded as being held by Nievs Travel on trust for you.

If a supplier fails, becomes insolvent or is otherwise unable to provide the service you have paid for, your rights and any available recovery will depend on the circumstances, the supplier's arrangements and applicable law.

21. Events Outside Our Control

Travel can be affected by circumstances that neither you nor Nievs Travel can reasonably control.

These may include natural disasters, extreme weather, pandemics, government restrictions, political events, war, terrorism, industrial action, border closures, infrastructure failures, supplier insolvency or other unforeseen events.

Where such an event affects your travel arrangements, we will do our best to assist you and liaise with suppliers where possible.

Any refunds, credits, alternative arrangements or additional costs will generally be determined by the relevant supplier's terms and the circumstances of the event.

Supplier charges may still apply.

22. Governing Law

These Booking Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws applicable in Australia.

If a dispute arises between you and Nievs Travel, you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the Australian courts, subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.

23. Your Acknowledgement

By making a payment towards your booking, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood these Booking Terms & Conditions.

  • You have provided accurate information for all travellers.

  • You understand that individual suppliers may have additional terms and conditions.

  • You understand that change and cancellation fees may apply.

  • You understand that prices can change until confirmed and paid in accordance with the applicable booking conditions.

  • You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary passports, visas, permits and other travel documents.

  • You have been advised to obtain appropriate travel insurance.

  • You understand that Nievs Travel acts as your travel agent and that many of the travel services booked are provided by independent third-party suppliers.

  • You understand that your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not excluded by these terms.

  •

You also confirm that you are 18 years of age or older, or that you are making the booking with the authority of the traveller(s) on whose behalf you are booking.

Payment of your invoice constitutes your acceptance of these Booking Terms & Conditions.

24. Travelling Overseas

Before departure, please check the latest travel, entry and transit requirements for every country on your itinerary.
